Pizza has become such a trend these days and Philly has stepped up to the plate full-force. Zavino has been on my list of places to try for quite some time now. The restaurant itself is much smaller than I anticipated, but the outside seating really adds to the ambiance of the venue.

I started with the Rosemary Sangria (summer!) which turned out being my favorite sangria, EVER, to date! The woodsy rosemary with the sweet fruit was just an ideal combination of flavors for me.

Everyone knows I am obsessed with green vegetables, so ordering the Oven Roasted Brussels Sprouts with shallots and sherry vinaigrette was a no brainer. These little gems came out crispy and packed with a nice punch due to the vinegar. I'm told many people come back JUST for the Brussels, and I can certainly see why!

The next veggie on deck was Romanesco Roasted Cauliflower with lemon herb bread crumbs. The red pepper-based sauce was both creamy and complimentary to the hearty cauliflower. I wouldn't have thought to combine the two but it was a really nice balance of flavors. My only quam would be that it was under-salted, but I'm not sure if that was because the Brussels offered a healthy dose of vinegar.

Now for the pizza!! The Polpettini with ricotta stuffed veal meatballs, mozzarella, crushed tomatoes, fresh basil, and shaved provolone. The crust was beautifully blistered, chewy, and the meatballs were succulent and moist. I am sensitive to garlic and this pizza did not smack you in the face with it. I would definitely order this pizza again and again, although I do have my eye on the Kennett (mushrooms, mozz, bechamel, roasted onions, rosemary)!!

Rounding the end of the meal, there wasn't room for one more thing. Except maybe... tiramisu! Admittedly, I am not a fan of tiramisu but let me tell you.... we polished off the entire mason jar full of this light and whipped deliciousness. A must-have!
