Rouge 98
For years I've heard rave reviews about the burger at Rouge on Rittenhouse Square. Even Oprah named it one of the best burgers in America, and I tend to trust her on most things! The Rouge burger consists of caramelized onions and Gruyere on a brioche bun, and is served with a side of butter lettuce, tomato, pickle, and a healthy side of French fries. The burger itself looked beautiful, very moist, thick, and was cooked "medium" as I ordered it. While I think it tasted very good, the onions reminded me so much of meatloaf, that it just wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. It also reminded me of French onion soup, so my head was very confused by what my mouth was tasting. I also thought it could have used a bit of salt. Overall I would give this burger an 8 on presentation, flavor, and how it was prepared and cooked perfectly. But to my own palette, it ranked only about a 5.

The Brussels sprouts with bacon, however, scored a solid 9 for me!!! I love them. Could have eaten twice the serving (which was beautiful).

It was a lovely evening on Rittenhouse!
