Frequently asked questions
The most commonly asked question! I am a content creator, not a blogger 😉. My recipes and methods are only available on my social channels. I always encourage my audience to watch my videos and write down the details as I go along. I am very detailed when explaining a recipe and always attempt to share measurements or offer substitutes. Being a visual learner, this method tends to work best for me and my audience.
With working full time, running Philly Food Girl, and being a wife and mother, I simply don't have the time to maintain the rolling content.
Philly Food Girl was born in January of 2014, long before social media was what it is today. One Sunday night, I couldn't sleep and decided my friends and family were annoyed by seeing all of my food photos. So created a separate IG and FB and the name Philly Food Girl popped in my head. I went with it. I had ZERO intentions or forethought that it would turn into anything.
No, I live in the suburbs. I've spent more than 20 years of my career working in Center City, where many of my friendships formed and where I still spend much of my time. When I started PFG, it naturally grew from those experiences and that community.
Philadelphia’s sports teams, culture, and history are what I know. My grandfather immigrated from Italy as a child with his parents and grew up at 9th and Christian, so my connection to the city runs deep. Much of my food is rooted in regional and family traditions like Sunday gravy, roast pork, and artichokes.
Artichokes are a familial experience that has always felt like coming home. My mom only made them on special occasions, and I remember everything from the way the house smelled to the painstaking ritual of scraping each leaf with my teeth, working my way toward the prize at the end: the tender, salty, delicate yet earthy heart. It's one of those, "if you know, you know" types of a thing.
Locatelli! It is a brand name of Pecorino Romano. Locatelli is considered the world’s finest grating cheese, hand-crafted from 100% pure sheep’s milk. To me, and many others, it's more of a seasoning than an ingredient.
Unbeknownst to us, there was an open pipe outside of our house and he fell in (we thought he was a girl!). I heard his cries and we eventually found out they were echoing out of the pipe, from inside of our basement fireplace duct! It was Memorial Day weekend so we named him Murph after Lt. Michael Murphy. Danger is his middle name... for obvious reasons.
Murph became a viral sensation, making the rounds on local news stations, the New York Post, and Inside Edition.
His rescue video is pinned to the PFG TikTok, gaining over 10.7M views!
Absolutely! I've worked with hundreds, if not thousands of people and businesses locally and across the world. Whether it's recipe creation, to showcase a small business, event promotions, test driving new vehicles, or highlight travel destinations, I've done [almost] it all. Interested in collaborating?
